Life Supports is a network of qualified and experienced counsellors and psychologists. We provide professional, evidence-based counselling that is effective, practical and client-centred. In addition to our office-based counselling services, Life Supports also provides telephone counselling sessions for clients located all over Australia.
Our phone counselling service is a core component of our commitment to ensuring that all Australians have access to high quality counselling. Same day appointments are available 7 days a week, including evenings and weekends.
All services will be provided by a Life Supports counsellor or psychologist from one of our locations in your local area. For continuity of care, this gives you the option of accessing the full range of our online and office-based services.
People choose counselling via phone for a variety of reasons, including:
Whatever your reason, phone counselling is a flexible, accessible option that removes many of the practical barriers to getting support.
Life Supports telephone counselling includes services for:
Your first session is a chance for your counsellor to get to know you and understand what's brought you to counselling. You don't need to have everything figured out before you call. Most people just know something isn't right, and that's enough to start.
Sessions are confidential, held at a time that works for you, and conducted by an accredited counsellor or psychologist matched to your specific needs. Where it makes sense for your situation, you can also transition between phone, online, and in-person sessions for continuity of care.
Telephone counselling is confidential and convenient. It is an affordable alternative to office-based sessions, and you don't need a referral for our phone counselling service.
Life Supports specialist phone counsellors and psychologists offer flexible appointment times, including same-day appointments, evenings, and weekends.

Phone counselling is exactly what it sounds like — a counselling session held over the phone rather than in person. It works in the same way as a face-to-face session: you talk, your counsellor listens, asks questions, and works with you to understand what's going on and find a way forward. The format is different, but the quality of support is the same.
For most concerns, yes. Research consistently shows that telephone counselling produces comparable outcomes to face-to-face sessions. The most important factor is the relationship between you and your counsellor, and that can develop just as well over the phone.
No referral is needed. You can call us directly on 1300 735 030 or reach out via our contact page, and we'll match you with the right counsellor for what you're going through.
Your counsellor will send you an invoice after your session, which you can pay via bank transfer. Phone counselling sessions are priced the same as in-person sessions. Medicare rebates may be available if you have a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP.
Yes. If your circumstances change or you'd prefer to move to face-to-face or online sessions at any point, that's easy to arrange. Your counsellor will work with you to find the format that suits you best.
