Master of Psychodynamic Counselling & Psychotherapy
Certificate in Counselling & Counselling Skills
Mark Tonkinson is a highly skilled and warm professional counsellor with extensive experience. He is also a clinical member of the Queensland Counselling Association. Mark has a substantial international professional background: he has worked in a diverse range of settings including the British National Health Service, tertiary education, non-government organisations and within private practice. Mark specialises in providing effective therapeutic support to individual adults and couples.
Mark is an empathic counsellor who is dedicated to helping his clients achieve their full potential. He encourages his clients to explore their individual concerns in life whilst reflecting on related underlying issues or factors. This enables insight and self-awareness to grow, creating the platform for personal change and growth. Through his sensitive and useful feedback on aspects of his clients’ issues, Mark helps his clients to develop their inner strength, self-confidence, and capacity for positive behavioural change. He is committed to helping his clients discover effective ways to cope with and manage difficulties in their lives and relationships.
Mark initially establishes each client’s own personal goals or aims for counselling, then tailors sessions to meet his clients’ specific therapeutic needs. Mark incorporates Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy into his sessions, and uses his broad range of training and experience to provide an integrated, client-centred counselling approach.
