Kathryn Pekin is a highly impactful and regarded counsellor with over 20 years’ experience working with individuals, couples and families presenting with a wide range of presenting concerns.
Kathryn works from a person-centred perspective; each session tailored to her clients’ specific needs. She is warm, calm and grounded which supports her clients to also be grounded and able to work through what needs to be addressed. Sessions are collaborative, and Kathryn aims to empower each individual throughout each stage of counselling. Initial sessions focus on identifying client strengths, values and beliefs and developing positive coping strategies to manage current and future stressors. Further sessions aim to deepen insight into underlying issues, gently processing trauma and making space for increased confidence and optimism.
Kathryn has experience working across the spectrum from short-term solution sessions to in-depth counselling sessions utilising evidence-based psychotherapy such as, Compassion-Based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CB-CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). She also has experience working as a specialist trauma counsellor utilising modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Parts work and creative therapies. Kathryn believes that counselling should be an inspiring, meaningful and insightful experience. She enjoys seeing her clients develop greater insight into their story, enhancing strengths and increasing their confidence and sense of wellbeing.
