Jason Smith is a highly experienced counsellor with more than two decades of experience working therapeutically with individuals, couples, children and families. Jason's counselling style is professional, evidence-based and practical. He offers a highly supportive experience where clients can explore, learn, challenge and reframe their perspectives and experiences to create meaningful, lasting change.
Jason is known for his empowering, empathetic and solution-focused approach. He understands that every human trait has a purpose and believes that we often disown the parts of ourselves that we have not fully understood and embraced. He believes that counselling can be a rewarding experience and looks forward to helping clients achieve greater self-awareness, meaningful relationships, connection, acceptance and peace.
Jason tailors each session to meet each client's individual therapeutic needs and goals. He uses an integrated client-centred and trauma-informed approach and draws on a range of contemporary therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. He also integrates principles from neuroscience, evolutionary psychology, behavioural psychology, mindfulness and psychoeducation to deepen understanding and support meaningful, lasting change. Jason believes that every person's purpose in life is to discover their authentic self and better understand who they are in relation to others and the world around them. He is committed to supporting his clients to cultivate an achievable way forward that improves psychological wellbeing, confidence, resilience, relationships and family life.
