Jacqui Readett is a highly trained and professional counsellor and family therapist with over 20 years of experience in the field. She is skilled in assisting individuals, couples and families to overcome a wide range of concerns, improve their coping, and to navigate barriers to achieving their goals. She holds professional registration with two professional bodies as well as holding full membership with the EMDR Association of Australia.
Jacqui provides evidence-based treatments from a person centred and trauma-informed approach. Her goal is for the client to attain positive, meaningful and lasting changes by treating the cause of the client’s vulnerability and to address current triggers and behaviours that contribute to the client's problems. She helps clients to understand and resolve ongoing effects of previous life events and possible traumas, so they achieve greater emotional stability, self-compassion and a stronger sense of personal effectiveness. Jacqui is mindful of mind-body connections, and impacts of the family and the social and environmental systems of the client. She helps couples and families improve their communication, relationship styles, and management of their interpersonal boundaries.
Jacqui has expertise in trauma-informed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, EMDR therapy, Systemic Family Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and employs art-based and narrative practices in sessions. She tailors information, resources and coaching for the client to learn and develop practical life skills, such as mindfulness, communication and interpersonal skills to achieve their goals.
