Christopher Madden is a highly accomplished counsellor who is passionate about his work and the outcomes he sees with clients. Chris holds membership with the Australian Counselling Association and participates in ongoing professional development and training. Chris works with adolescents aged 16 and older and adults presenting with a wide range of presenting concerns.
Chris is committed to working thoughtfully and attentively with his clients, encouraging them to explore their ways of thinking about and being in the world. Chris has a creative and collaborative approach to therapy, where he supports clients as they examine their relationships, personal histories, and underlying thoughts and feelings. He appreciates that everybody has their own idiosyncratic way of relating to the world and values the complexity and specificity of every client’s story.
Each session with Chris is led by the client and focuses specifically on whatever needs emerge for them. His role as counsellor is not to give advice or ready-made solutions, but to encourage curiosity and self-exploration within the counselling process. Chris believes that, by paying close attention to how we talk about our difficulties, we can reveal something to ourselves about our innermost philosophies. In this way, counselling can be a process of exploring and rediscovering who we are, how we came to be this way, and how we’d like to carry ourselves forward.
