Brett Bailey is a qualified and effective individual and couples’ counsellor who is highly experienced in supporting clients to improve their inner lives and relationships. Brett is registered with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia and works with clients with a wide range of presenting challenges.

Brett is curious about his clients’ experience and puts people at ease so that they feel open to share about the issues relevant to them. By exploring underlying motivations, Brett empowers clients to disengage from destructive patterns of reactivity and cultivate a capacity for more authenticity and deeper connections. He helps clients see how their reactivity makes sense based on their personal histories, and provides an opportunity for clients to grow from adverse experiences in their lives. Brett is committed to providing a highly supportive experience for clients to feel secure in themselves during sessions, which facilitates opportunities for growth, enabling clients to move forward and face what needs to be faced.

Although everyone is different, there are some universal truths that are part of being human. We all need to feel that we are valued and that we are not all alone in the world. Brett recognises that relationship experiences from childhood influence relationships throughout life, especially with intimate partners; that people have defences that protect deep emotional wounds, and that recovery and growth takes a careful approach; that emotions provide important information about what’s happening on the inside; and that change is always possible, if not inevitable, even when feeling hopeless. Where compatible, Brett accesses emotion to facilitate therapeutic experiences (Emotionally Focused Therapy), especially with people who have learned that their feelings don’t matter. Otherwise, Brett draws on a range of other approaches and techniques, for example, Solution-Focused Therapy, to explore what change might look like. Ultimately, you won’t be alone in navigating the issues that matter to you.
