Andrea Rothschild is a counsellor and family therapist who works with adolescents, adults, couples and families across a broad range of life stages and challenges. Andrea believes therapy begins with meeting clients where they are, recognising that the issue that first brings someone to therapy may only be the starting point. Her sessions provide a non-judgemental space where clients can feel heard, understood and supported while exploring what may be happening beneath the surface.
Andrea's approach is conversational and collaborative. She brings compassion, empathy and a down-to-earth style to this process. Where appropriate, she uses humour therapeutically to create comfort, ease tension and help clients find a little lightness or perspective when life feels particularly difficult. Andrea’s systemic training enables her to consider not only the concerns of the individual, but also the impact of relationships, family dynamics and broader situational factors. She combines emotional support with therapeutic strategies to help clients recognise their strengths, understand recurring patterns and navigate challenges with greater confidence. Opting into therapy is an active step towards change. Andrea sees her role as one of scaffolding and empowering clients to develop and practise new skills, make meaningful changes and strengthen their capacity to manage future challenges. She is not afraid to gently challenge clients when appropriate, always within the safety, trust and boundaries of the therapeutic relationship.
Andrea’s therapeutic approach draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Family and Systemic Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Schema Therapy and grief and loss frameworks. Andrea has also completed training in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), further complementing her work with trauma. Therapy is tailored to the individual rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach. Some clients begin with weekly sessions and move to monthly appointments as their needs change. Andrea believes therapy is not simply about talking through a problem. It is about understanding what is keeping you stuck, recognising what needs to change and developing the confidence and skills to do something differently. It is about creating a shift from insight into action - with greater clarity, stronger coping strategies and a clearer way forward.
