Terry has been counselling for many years and is a member of the Australian Counselling Association and the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science. He has worked in private, government and not for profit organisations developing his skill in child, adolescent and adult counselling. Terry is passionate about the importance of counselling and values listening attentively to clients and feels privileged to become part of their journey to wellbeing.
With and extensive background in education and counselling Terry brings a vital skillset in helping children, adolescents, adults and families manage transitional phases of life. If he could sum up what he brings to counselling it would be ‘accepting positive change’. Terry has presented workshops at both national and international conferences on the benefits of mindfulness approaches. He has a specific focus on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and the importance of compassion and metaphors in the change process.
Terry is skilled in helping clients build capacity to cope with traumatic life events and their need to feel safe. He holds master’s degrees in education and counselling and is committed to reflective practices and lifelong learning. Terry uses the following modalities; Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused, Person-Centred and Schema Therapy.
