Shona Cassell is a remarkably skilled psychologist with over 13 years’ experience. She is a member of the Australian Psychological Society, and registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. Shona has extensive experience working in the public and private sectors with a diverse range of clients. She is passionate about assisting her clients, and committed to creating a positive therapeutic relationship. Shona specialises in counselling seniors, adults, adolescents and couples.
Shona helps her clients to address their concerns via short-term solution-focused counselling, or longer term therapeutic support as needed. Her approach is flexible – she adapts her therapeutic style to each client’s specific problems, needs, goals and values. Shona supports her clients in developing a better understanding of themselves and others. She focuses on each person’s capacity to cope with life challenges, and works towards developing, achieving and maintaining goals. Shona assists her clients to find positive ways of moving forward, and improving their overall health and wellbeing.
Shona’s counselling and therapeutic style is client-centred and solutions-focused. Evidence-based counselling methods that Shona utilises in her practice include: Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy. Many of Shona’s clients have used counselling with her as an opportunity to overcome adversity in their personal and professional lives, by making positive changes to their circumstances and within themselves.
