Sasha Truong is a highly regarded professional counsellor with many years of experience in the field. She is a member of the Australian Counselling Association and works with adolescents, adults, couples, and families across a wide range of presenting concerns.
Sasha passionately views her clients as full of worth, agency, and resilience. Inspired by the profound findings of attachment theory, Sasha prioritises the establishment of a secure-attachment with her clients through fostering an environment that is supportive and inducive to change. By taking the time to develop this therapeutic foundation with each client from the outset, the way forward is prepared for meaningful, collaborative work to be done. This can result in change on a symptomatic level as well as on the deeper level of a shift in one’s way of being.
To support her clients' therapeutic goals, Sasha selectively incorporates various modalities to suit each individual's unique needs. These include Family Systems Therapy with a focus on differentiation, Schema Therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy with an emphasis on attachment theory and object relations, Narrative Therapy with an emphasis on reframing, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy with a focus on exceptions, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapies that incorporate Socratic guided self-discovery, adaptive thinking, and mindful self-compassion. Ultimately, Sasha’s clients not only become equipped with the knowledge and tools to elicit calm in the midst of the storms of life, but they also become empowered to navigate the choppy waters guided by the compass of a deep reconnection to their values and aspirations.
