Paullette Hoogerwerf is a registered counsellor with over 20 years of experience supporting individuals, families, and adolescents through some of life's most complex challenges. She holds a Master of Counselling and Psychotherapy and a Bachelor in Psychological Sciences, with extensive training in the neurobiology of trauma. A registered member of PACFA, Paullette has dedicated the past six years to working specifically with complex and developmental trauma. Her practice is grounded in the belief that every person who walks through her door deserves compassionate, dignified care, no matter what they're carrying.
Paullette is warm, direct, and genuinely invested in the people she works with. She creates a space where clients feel safe enough to be honest and supported enough to move forward. Her approach is collaborative and practical - she works alongside you, not above you, tailoring strategies to your unique goals and circumstances. Whether you're seeking clarity after years of confusion, rebuilding resilience after trauma, or learning to navigate healthier relationships and boundaries, Paullette brings both depth and direction to the work. She is outcome-focused without being rushed, and present without being passive.
At the heart of Paullette's therapeutic style are three core values: compassion, honesty, and real-world relevance. She draws from an integrative, trauma-informed framework that includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, nervous system regulation, somatic approaches, attachment-based therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Family Systems Theory, strengths-based practice, and mindfulness and self-compassion. Every session is personalised because no two stories are the same. Paullette believes deeply in her clients' capacity for healing and growth, not because change is easy, but because she has seen what becomes possible when someone is finally met with the right support.
