Paula James is an insightful and skilled counsellor with over 12 years’ professional experience. She is a member of the AASW. In addition to her private practice, Paula has a substantial background working in the non-profit sector. Paula provides effective therapeutic support to adolescents, individuals, couples and families.
Paula offers a reflective, nonjudgmental, collaborative and professional environment that supports clients to feel comfortable to explore their concerns. She views counselling as an opportunity to gain greater insight into the underlying issues that may be influencing any subsequent undesirable outcomes in a client’s life. Paula is committed to supporting her clients to develop an enhanced understanding of their circumstances, and to find helpful strategies and techniques to better manage their challenges in life that will lead to meaningful change and improves their emotional and physical wellbeing.
Each session with Paula is tailored to meet the clients’ personal therapeutic needs. She integrates diverse models of counselling into her practice that can include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Family Therapy, Couples Therapy, Trauma-informed Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy.
