Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia
Paul is an accomplished counsellor with many years’ experience including 7 years of voluntary work both locally and abroad. He is a member of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia. Paul has worked in a range of diverse settings with children, adolescents and families from various cultural backgrounds.
Whilst being a very down to earth counsellor, Paul is also compassionate and understanding in his approach to counselling. He is committed to helping his clients develop effective strategies to overcome obstacles to mental health and improve their quality of life. He is a strong believer in the impact that good therapy can have on people’s quality of life and strives for this outcome for each of his clients. In counselling sessions, Paul helps clients to discover barriers to mental health in lifestyle, thought patterns, behaviour patterns and fears. Paul’s clients are empowered with healthy therapeutic techniques to practice and attain long term benefits from therapy by ultimately becoming their own therapists to self-help when difficulties arise.
Each session with Paul is tailored to meet the clients’ personal therapeutic needs. Paul uses an integrated approach to therapy which incorporates many contemporary models of counselling, including: Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Schema-Focused Therapy, Trauma-Informed Therapy, Mindfulness, and Solution-Focused Therapy. Paul’s approach is client-centred, and places emphasis on the goals and desired outcomes of the client.
