Melissa is a doctor of clinical psychology and accomplished therapist with over 16 years’ experience. She is a member of the Australian Psychological Society and fellow of the College of Clinical Psychologists and has worked with adolescents and adults across both clinical and corporate/organisational settings. As a senior clinical psychologist and media commentator Melissa also works as an ambassador/spokesperson for a range of Australian companies providing expert psychological opinion.
Melissa is a highly professional and nurturing therapist who brings a genuinely warm and empathic nature to the therapeutic relationship. She is particularly gentle and sensitive in her work with clients and provides a safe space to discuss concerns. She is practical in her approach and enjoys assisting clients to implement individually tailored evidence based strategies with a view to reducing distress and improving quality of life. Melissa believes therapy is an opportunity for growth and has the utmost respect for those who choose this path.
Individual sessions are client focused and modalities of therapy are carefully explained to clients prior to their commencement. Client consent is also sought and obtained prior to the employment of any particular treatment approach. Modalities incorporated by Melissa in her practice include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy and Interpersonal Psychotherapy, and she regularly engages in training in these areas to provide the most up to date treatment for her clients.
