Maria is a highly skilled counsellor with 25 years’ experience working with individuals, couples and families. She has worked across a diverse range of settings including government, not for profit and private sectors. Maria is also a member of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
Maria is highly committed, skilled, personable and warm with the capacity to ensure her clients feel at ease. She draws from a holistic approach and assists her clients with focusing on their presenting issues, strengths and goals. Maria is passionate about psychological wellness and the relationship between the mind and body to achieve total well-being. She works in a collaborative way with her clients to establish strategies to deal with emotional regulation and other issues. Maria supports her clients to experience a positive and insightful journey into psychological growth and wellness. Maria is particularly skilled as a relationships counsellor both for individuals to explore their relationships with others in a safe space, and for couples and families.
Maria is an experienced Grief, Loss and Trauma counsellor having worked in the Black Saturday bushfire response with bereaved families. She is adept at both short-term psychological strategies, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and a combination of other therapies such as Emotional Focused Therapy, Psychotherapy, Mindfulness, Solutions Focused Therapy and Play-based Therapy. Maria likes to build on her client’s inherent strengths to establish solutions that work for them.
