Kathy Edelman is an exceptionally skilled counsellor who has extensive professional experience across a range of different concerns. She is also an active member of the AASW. Kathy specialises in supporting clients of all ages – including couples and families – with effective therapeutic counselling.
Kathy’s approach is practical and solution-focused: she works with honesty and compassion. She provides a safe, nonjudgmental environment where clients are free to be actively engaged in the counselling process. Kathy encourages her clients to identify their strengths whilst they examine and critically reflect on their lives. This collaborative process of creative analysis enables Kathy’s clients to explore new ways of living, and move confidently towards positive change.
Kathy sees each person as unique, and maintains flexibility in her counselling practice. She integrates features from a range of therapeutic approaches into her sessions, including: Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Existential Psychotherapy, Narrative Therapy, Psychoeducation and Solution-Focused Therapy. She also supports her clients’ personal development in the areas of lifestyle management; co-parenting and communication skills; and self-regulation skills including relaxation and mindfulness.
