Karen is an accomplished counsellor with a number of years’ experience. She has a Bachelor of Counselling (Coaching) and is a member of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia. Karen has worked in public, private and not for profit settings where she worked with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. Karen has extensive experience working with children with behavioural and learning challenges, children with autism spectrum and their families, clients with drug and alcohol abuse, and anxiety and depression. Karen supports clients of all ages, including couples and family groups.
Karen is passionate about providing counselling that empowers her clients to make a positive change that provides them with purpose. When a client feels disempowered Karen provides them with the tools that will help them in developing a deeper understanding of their situation to assist them in moving forward to reach a more positive outlook. Karen is committed to helping her clients discover a realistic and manageable way to move forward that improves and enhances their emotional wellbeing, relationships and family life.
Karen believes that each of us deserves to live a more awake, happy and beautiful life. This can be achieved by understanding our actions, and having acceptance will assist in making a positive change to develop growth. To achieve this, she incorporates a number of counselling techniques into her practice, according to the clients therapeutic needs. Modalities that Karen uses include: Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Positive Psychology, Solution Focused Therapy, Person-centered Therapy, Systemic Family Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Psychoeducational Therapy and Art Therapy.
