Julie Flanagan is a caring and empathetic counsellor/psychotherapist, with many years experience and has extensive qualifications. Her office is located in Penshurst close to the neighbouring suburbs of Mortdale, Oatley and Hurstville and easily accessible by public transport. She holds a Level 2 membership with the Australian Counselling Association and is a provisional registrant with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia.
Julie provides clients with a safe non-judgmental space in which to explore their issues. She allows clients to draw on their existing skills and discover new strategies to promote wellbeing and growth. She helps client’s build their self-esteem and tap into their inner resilience.
Each session with Julie is tailored to meet the client’s individual needs. Julie uses a number of contemporary models of counselling in her practice including, but not limited to, person-centred counselling, solution focused and narrative therapy. Julie has a special interest in parenting, women’s health issues, postnatal depression and anxiety. In addition to her professional counselling skills Julie has many years experience working in the health industry as both a registered nurse and a child and family health nurse. Her experience as a nurse has helped guide her practice. Having this background has helped her understand that the most important aspect of the counselling relationship is the quality of the client-counsellor relationship. Establishing a rapport and a working relationship with the client is fundamental to Julie’s practice.
