Julie-Anne McMahon is a highly qualified psychotherapist, family therapist, and school counsellor. She has over 30 years’ experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and their families presenting with a wide range of concerns. Julie-Anne’s sessions are client-focused where she provides an authentic and inclusive approach to counselling.
Julie-Anne strives to create a therapeutic environment of safety and trust. Following an initial period of assessment, a collaborative and mutually agreed-upon process identifies primary goals for the client. This process is negotiated between Julie-Anne and her clients, and aims to help clients achieve positive lasting change. Therapy is therefore at a pace that the client dictates, and the theme of each session is driven by the clients’ primary concerns.
Julie-Anne has a dynamic approach to therapy, utilising a range of therapeutic techniques and strategies in response to the needs of the clients she supports. She utilises a psychoanalytic approach to understanding the impact of circumstances on a client’s wellbeing. Accordingly, she draws form Family Systems Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution Based Therapy, and Psychodynamic Approaches in accordance with the needs of clients. Julie-Anne is passionate about her work and committed to assisting clients to affect positive and sustainable change in their inner and outer worlds.
