Jules Silva is a skilled and grounded counsellor of many years’ experience. She has worked across a range of diverse settings that have advanced her professional experience, and therefore her ability to truly help her clients. Jules works with individual adults with a range of concerns and challenges.
When Jules sits face-to-face with a new client, she sees a unique individual looking back at her. She approaches the unfolding therapeutic relationship and the work to be done with an open, respectful, non-judgemental and compassionate mind. Jules understands that the step of entering into therapy takes both courage and a preparedness to create change, deserving of the greatest respect. Jules believes therapy provides us with an opportunity to face our life difficulties, our relationship to ourselves and others, our past and present suffering, our deep uncertainties, our way of being-in-the-world. A therapeutic collaboration that is dedicated to helping us heal – while nurturing our strengths and wisdom – can lead to greater peace in this precious life, hope and possibilities.
Describing her grounding philosophy, Jules says “it is the wisdom that already lies within you that will ultimately be your greatest friend and teacher for life”. Jules believes that her role is to work with you in a partnership that nurtures your self-awareness, self-compassion and existing strengths, and that this is a necessary foundation for enduring growth and change, and a fulfilling life. Depending on what will be most helpful for her client, Jules draws on: Existential Psychotherapy, Jungian-Informed and Psychodynamic Therapy, Attachment Theory, Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
