Jim Filshie is an insightful and highly skilled psychologist with extensive professional experience. He also holds membership with the Australia Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. In addition to his private practice, Jim has provided support within the private, government and non-government sectors. He provides effective therapeutic support to children, adolescents and adults.
Jim is warm, engaging, and has a client-centred approach to counselling. He provides a nonjudgmental and supportive environment for his clients to freely discuss their concerns. Counselling with Jim is an opportunity for clients explore and resolve a broad range of issues, and experience profound growth whilst creating meaningful change in their lives. Jim helps his clients to gain deep personal insights, and encourages them to explore their thoughts or behaviours in a way that supports effective and sustainable progress.
Jim tailors his counselling approach to support each of his client’s unique personal needs, issues and goals. He draws largely from Person-Centred Therapy: each client is truly and empathically understood, accepted and respected. These elements of Jim’s counselling relationship with each client create a strong working alliance, and help clients to find their way through difficult issues towards ongoing positive change and growth.
