Ingrid Forster is a skilled and qualified counsellor with over 20 years’ professional experience. She is a member of the AASW and a professional member of the Australian Association of Family Therapists. In addition to her private practice, Ingrid has worked in the government and clinical sectors. Ingrid specialises in providing therapeutic support to adults, families and couples.
Ingrid provides a professional counselling service within a safe and respectful environment; so important for building the trust and self-acceptance which leads to personal growth. Ingrid has a particular interest in relationship therapy and specialises in working with couples, as well as individuals facing distress. Ingrid works collaboratively with her clients to build on strengths, optimise life choices, and develop skills to improve overall wellbeing. Through counselling, both individuals and couples can reduce distress, enhance coping, and increase insight to strengthen their relationships. Once the trust and closeness builds in the relationship, real transformation begins to occur as new patterns of relating are consolidated.
Each session with Ingrid is tailored to meet the clients’ personal therapeutic needs. Ingrid incorporates many contemporary counselling models into her practice including Mindfulness Based Therapy, Dialectal Behaviour Therapy, Attachment Based, Emotion Focused Therapy, Trauma-Informed Therapy and Systemic Family and Couples Therapy.
