Helen Sheeran is a highly skilled and empathic counsellor with over 20 years’ professional experience. She is a member of the AASW, and has extensive experience in private practice. Helen specialises in supporting clients of all ages including children, adolescents, adults and seniors. She is also strongly committed to her work with couples and families.
Helen provides a quiet, private and welcoming environment where clients feel comfortable discussing their concerns. She is committed to helping her clients effectively manage and reduce their psychological distress. By identifying what isn’t working well in different areas of life, Helen supports her clients to develop positive alternatives and act on choices that improve health and wellbeing. She helps her clients to build on their strengths, develop new ways of thinking, and change unproductive patterns of behaviour. She also has specialist training and experience assisting clients who are recovering from trauma, or experiencing workplace stress and conflict. Helen is dedicated to helping her clients connect with their inner resources to develop hope, resilience and peace of mind.
Helen takes a client-centred approach to counselling, and uses a number of effective counselling methods in her sessions. Therapeutic techniques that Helen uses include: Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Mind-Body Therapy, Clinical Hypnosis, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Positive Psychology, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
