Graeme Jukes is a skilled counsellor with many years’ experience working with adults, couples and young people providing long-term support to address a vast array of issues. Graeme is a member of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia and has experience working within a variety of different settings which has allowed him to develop sound knowledge and skills as an effective therapist.
Graeme has a genuine compassionate, respectful and empathetic approach to working with his clients and understands the counselling environment with all the fears and trepidations that people often feel when they come into a counselling space. Graeme has the ability to make his clients feel respected for whom they are, and to help them feel they are in a place that is positive and uplifting. Graeme is committed to helping his clients find new ways to manage life’s challenges so each session with Graeme is tailored to meet the clients’ personal therapeutic needs whether they be longstanding concerns, or new difficulties in their lives, or simply that something isn’t right. Graeme believes that the relationship between the client and therapist is fundamental to the overall success of the therapeutic outcomes and that each person has the ability to solve their own issues and move into a place of harmony within their lives, with guidance and direction.
Graeme incorporates a number of counselling approaches into his practice, dependent on the individual needs of his clients and the complexities of those needs. Graeme uses an integrated, Person-Centred approach incorporating many contemporary models of counselling into his practice, including: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Strength-Based Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy, Trauma-Informed Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Positive Psychology and Mindfulness-Based Therapies. Graeme is committed to helping his clients develop effective strategies to address their concerns and he envisages counselling as an opportunity where the client can gain insight into their underlying impacts of their issues by developing a new way of living life.
