Gene is a highly skilled and educated counsellor that creates a therapeutic environment for her clients that is collaborative, and outcome focused. She provides a non-judgemental and empathetic setting that allow clients to feel safe in sharing their life’s challenges. Gene’s approach and objectives in counselling is to help her clients achieve self-empowerment, personal growth, increased emotional resiliency, self-healing and lasting transferable life skills that promotes mental wellbeing. In her sessions, clients are drivers of their own counselling goals while, Gene brings her expertise and experience to support them in getting there by tailoring her interventions to each individual’s unique needs.

Gene has experience working with primary school aged children, adolescents and university students, as well as adults and couples across a range of psychosocial and emotional challenges. She has worked across many sectors as well as private practice and is an accredited PACFA registrant and an accredited online therapist with AOTT. Gene is also an affiliate member of the Australian Psychological Society and a full member of the College of Counselling.

Gene is trained in the scientifically evidence-based Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. She also utilises Motivational Interviewing technique in her sessions. These treatment modalities are used within a solution focused framework.
