Erla Marx-Newhouse is a highly skilled and compassionate counsellor with over 18 years’ experience. She is a member of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia, and the AASW. In addition to her private practice, Erla has a diverse professional counselling background that spans the community health, education, private and government sectors. Erla provides effective therapeutic support to children, adolescents, individual adults, couples and families.
Erla is insightful, caring and supportive. She provides a safe and nonjudgmental environment for her clients to freely explore their concerns, and clarify solutions to a wide range of personal challenges. Erla’s areas of interest and expertise enable her to help her clients to improve their personal and professional relationships. Erla equips her clients with effective and practical coping strategies, supporting them to move through difficulties and create lasting positive change in their lives.
Erla has a client-centred and collaborative approach to counselling, tailoring sessions to meet the individual needs and goals of all of her clients. Evidence-based therapeutic techniques that Erla uses include Bowen Systemic Family Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Existential Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Specialist Grief and Bereavement Therapy. Erla is deeply committed to helping her clients experience profound growth in their lives and relationships.
