Dr Julian Thompson is a skillful clinical psychologist with over 10 years experience. He is a member of the Australian Psychological Society, and a fully registered psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia. Julian’s experience spans across a diverse range of settings and client presentations, including but certainly not limited to, drug and alcohol addiction, relationships, anxiety and phobias, mental illness, depression, anger management, behaviour problems, and grief and loss. He provides therapeutic support to older adolescents, adults and couples.
Julian has an easy-going and compassionate manner but this does not take away from his breadth of knowledge and ability in helping people move towards a better life where challenges are able to be faced with resilience and awareness. Julian is dedicated to helping you unlock your own strengths and skills working collaboratively with his clients to help them achieve real change. After identifying the core issues negatively impacting the client’s life, Julian provides support to develop useful insights and strategies to effectively manage distressing or unhelpful emotions, thoughts, and behaviours. Julian encourages his clients to find more meaning and purpose, by clarifying and actively moving in their preferred life direction.
Julian works collaboratively with his clients to achieve their treatment goals. Each session with Julian is carefully planned to support the client’s unique needs and personal situation. Julian utilises a range of evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Interpersonal Therapy. Julian is committed to helping his clients create positive, sustainable change in all areas of life.
