Deborah Sheehy is a warm, exceptionally skilled counsellor with over 16 years’ experience assisting clients to overcome challenging life situations, and achieve positive and lasting outcomes. She is a registered clinical member with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia, a Gottman Relationship Checkup verified member, and holds specialist qualifications in both psychotherapy and couples counselling. Deborah provides therapeutic support to individual adults and couples.
Deborah provides a warm, collaborative and nonjudgmental environment that helps her clients feel comfortable about opening up and exploring their concerns. She appreciates that each client responds in a unique way to stressors based on their personality, life circumstances, culture, past experiences and family and relationship dynamics. Deborah respects the diverse life experience of her clients, and tailors counselling to meet each person’s personal needs and goals. She is passionate about empowering her clients to make genuine and long-lasting positive change in their lives.
Deborah uses an integrative, client-centred counselling approach. She uses a number of evidence-based techniques in her work with clients, including: Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Narrative Therapy, and Emotion-Focused Therapy (especially effective with couples).
