David is a university qualified counsellor who has worked in the field for over ten years supporting individuals with an array of presenting issues. David is a member of the Australian Counselling Association and has studied for more than a decade before commencing his practice. Practicing with a thoughtful balance of the art and science of counselling to promote change, David believes strongly in building a quality relationship to progress personal growth. Founded on respect for the lived experience of others, David provides help to achieve the outcomes they need based on their goals and current challenges.
With a naturally calm presence and warmth towards the work, David provides a space for listening and understanding that facilities growth and opportunity. It is through an empathetic understanding between the counsellor and person where development and solutions can be found. Through genuine human contact, sessions with David can include the full range of human experience without judgement or criticism.
As every person and situation is unique, sessions will be customised to each individual. David provides counselling using the following approaches: Person-Centred Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Emotion-Focused Therapy. Life and living involves challenges, and often seeking help in itself can be hard. Through counselling, the first step towards something different is possible.
