Christie Alexander Trimmer is a highly experienced counsellor with a Master level qualification in Counselling who has worked in the field for many years. Christie is a registered member of the Australian Counselling Association and has extensive experience working with clients with a wide range of presenting circumstances in a diverse range of settings. Christie enjoys working with adults as well as adolescents.
Christie brings a warm and friendly curiosity to her work and is inspired by the strength, resilience, and creativity she witnesses in those seeking support to cope with difficulties in their lives. Christie has spent the last decade working with people experiencing a variety of challenges, including anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, addiction, relationship issues, grief, and loss. Christie respects the trust it takes for a person to seek support and understands that the process of self-exploration and change can be difficult. Christie provides a safe environment where clients can face these challenges with practical tools to achieve a clearer sense of what they value in life and gain hope for the future.
Christie utilises a variety of evidence-based and trauma informed strategies to assist those she is working with. These strategies include concepts and tools from Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy. The aim of Christie’s work is to help her clients develop a greater sense of clarity, competence, and connection with themselves, and others, so they can move through life with a sense of balance, meaning, personal agency and hope.
