Anne is a Clinical Social Worker with 38 years of experience. She has practiced Social Work at basic and advanced levels in government and non-government agencies in the areas of child sexual abuse, Domestic Violence, Adult and Child and Adolescent Mental Health with issues of self-harm, Suicidal Ideation, Anxiety and Depression. In 1994, Anne began working in private practice after completing a 2-year private training course in Relationship and Family Therapy at the William Street Family Therapy Centre, Mt. Lawley. She also provides training and Supervision to other professionals’ in Relationship and Family Therapy with government; non-government and private organisations. Anne is a member of the AASW (Australian Assoc of Social Workers) and Clinical member of AAFT (Australian Association of Family Therapy) She has been the State Representative of this Association for 3 years.
Anne is a warm, caring, non-judgemental, down to earth, practical therapist. Anne brings many years of work and life experience to the counselling session and believes that the client is the expert of their life, together they collaborate to find solutions to the problems. She also trusts that people can change and transform their lives, have the power to heal past hurts that will contribute to improving general well-being. In relationship and family counselling, Anne assists in creating a safe space for clients to improve interactions, have better communication which leads to less arguments and more understanding between couples and family members.
Anne utilises a humanistic, positive psychology, neuropsychology (how the brain works) strengths based, systemic approach that is accepting of where people are at in their lives and respect for their values and beliefs. Anne appreciates and is grateful for her own relationship, family life, friendships’ and joy for flamenco dancing. She loves her work and helping others and looks forward to meeting with you in the counselling process.
