Amylia is a counsellor registered with the Australian Counselling Association and has many years of clinical experience working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families. In addition to clinical membership Amylia has also been admitted to The ACA College of Supervisors.
Amylia is passionate about her work and sees counselling as an opportunity for constructive conversation; where therapist and client collaborate to establish and reinforce the client’s sense of empowerment and self-awareness. Through her experience, Amylia has found that this approach can put even the most nervous client at ease by establishing a culture of warmth, acceptance, and understanding within a professional setting. By helping clients to develop emotional awareness, healthy boundaries, and effective interpersonal skills Amylia feels confident that her clients can achieve positive and lasting changes that will facilitate growth and resilience for years to come.
Amylia aims to create a warm, welcoming, and safe space for clients to explore the hurts of the past, the challenges of the present, and the hopes for the future. The decision to use an integrated therapeutic approach means that Amylia is able to customise each session to provide clients with the most rewarding therapeutic experience possible.
Modalities commonly applied by Amylia include Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, and Systemic Family Therapy.
